Support Wildlife Crossings in Washington

ESSB 5203 is one step away from the finish line, and Washington's hunters and anglers have a real chance to help get it done.

This bipartisan bill advances the state's Habitat Connectivity Action Plan, helping prioritize wildlife crossings that reduce dangerous wildlife-vehicle collisions while keeping key migration corridors open for deer, elk, and other species.

We've already seen what works. Crossings on I-90 and U.S. 97 have cut collisions with mule deer by up to 90%. That's safer roads for Washington drivers and fewer dead animals on the road shoulder - good for conservation, good for herds, good for hunters.

Thanks to strong support in both chambers, ESSB 5203 has passed the Senate and cleared the House Transportation Committee. The final step is getting the bill scheduled for a vote on the House floor and across the finish line before the session ends.

This is common-sense legislation: Connected habitat supports healthier wildlife populations, and well-placed crossings make our roads safer for everyone.

We're close to passing Washington's best wildlife bill in years, but we need one more push: Contact your Representative and urge a YES vote on ESSB 5203.
