Hunting and fishing are already part of how our state manages wildlife and are written into the Colorado State Statutes as primary harvest tools. But today, a ballot initiative or commission petition can take away a method, a species, or a season - no science required. This current reality not only threatens hunting and fishing opportunities, but also the entire conservation system our state currently relies on to conserve fish and wildlife, to protect habitats, and to provide quality public access and opportunities for all outdoor recreationists, not just hunters and anglers.
Amendment 83, on the ballot this November, protects this current and highly successful structure for generations to come, rather than leaving it to the whims of the next well-funded signature campaign.
