Head Start NPRM Comment - Disabilities

Your perspective, experiences and expertise are critical to informing key decisions about Head Start and the potential impacts of these decisions on the children and families the program serves. You can use the form below to share your perspective on the proposed changes with regard to students with disabilities. Among other things, the proposal would: 
  • Remove standards that ensure students with disabilities are able to fully participate in the program 
  • Remove standards that ensure every child is screened for a disability within 45 days of enrolling in Head Start 
  • Removes requirements that all enrolled children be served in the least restrictive environment 
  • Allows children to be suspended or expelled from the program (which is currently not allowed)
