Begin by introducing yourself as a constituent from [city/town]. You may include your political affiliation, family or professional responsibilities, or your identity as a person of faith -- anything that helps your legislator understand who you are and what shapes your perspective. Specific details help your message stand out.

Clearly state what you are asking your legislator to do.

• Focus on one issue per message.
• If you know of a specific bill, name it (e.g., SB ###). If not, briefly describe the issue or concern.
• Ask for a specific action your legislator can take (such as supporting/opposing a bill, sponsoring legislation, or speaking publicly on the issue).
• Consider sharing a personal story or experience that illustrates why this matters to you -- personal connections are powerful.
