Ask Congress to Fully Fund the CDBG and HOME Programs in FY24
We need your help to ensure that CDBG and HOME are fully funded in FY24. On July 12, the House Transportation-HUD (THUD) Subcommittee cut the FY24 funding level for the HOME program by $1 billion -- or 67%. This cut, if enacted, will have devastating impacts on affordable housing production. But you can still impact the final funding level for the HOME program by reaching out to your Congressional members. The Senate THUD subcommittee will mark up its FY24 spending bill on July 20 and Congress needs to hear from you now.
Reach out to your members of Congress today to urge them to fully fund the CDBG and HOME programs in FY24!
Here is the letter you will be sending them:
Support the CDBG and HOME Programs in FY24
I write to urge your support of the critically important Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and the HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) Program in the final FY24 Transportation, HUD and Related Agencies Appropriations bill to be enacted by Congress.
Congress has shown support for increasing funding for both programs as evidenced by the FY24 Dear Colleague letters in both chambers. CDBG funding was cut by $150 million in FY22, and HOME funding has remained relatively flat in recent years. Inflation and rising interest rates have caused program operating and program delivery costs to increase. These programs cannot withstand a cut and are needed more than ever at the local level to build affordable housing, stimulate economic development, and meet urgent community development needs. Please contact the appropriations leadership requesting that no cuts be made against these programs.
Thank you for your consideration and please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
