Urge Your House Representative to Promote Positive and Effective School Discipline. Vote NO on HB 6.

HB 6 proposes significant changes to the state's school discipline policies. This bill expands the authority of educators to suspend students, including our youngest students in PreK through 2nd grade. Currently, law restricts suspensions for student in PreK thorugh 2nd grade to serious offenses only, but HB 6 seeks to broaden the criteria for suspension. The bill also removes current protections for our students experiencing homelessness. As school psychologists, we know exclusionary discipline practices don't work.
